My husband and I retired from education in 2005. We are enjoying a calm and blissfully boring retirement. We live in a small town in Ohio and love gardening and being together. We have a travel trailer that we now park at a nearby lake since my husband has health problems that make it difficult (if not impossible) for him to manage pulling it and I will not even try. We have a truck camper which I drive and we use to visit local State Parks but venture further in the winters. I love gardening, cooking and dabbling in colored pencil art. We have two daughters and two grandsons (a granddaughter in the hopper). Life is good.
I found your site by searching for “fire and ice cucumber” recipe, but can’t find the recipe on your site. It involves cukes, onions and vinegar. I haven’t made it in years and would like to fix it again.
Okay. This is one of those “little of this, little of that recipes” but I will give it a go.
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced (you decide if you want to peel it first)
3/4 c cider vinegar
4 1/2 T sugar (I use brown sugar)
1/2 t salt
Mix it all together. Let it marinate as long as you can stand it. (12-24 hours)
