Blowing into Amarillo

Wow, it is windy today!  The Bearded One fought the wind from Albuquerque

(Albuquerque is a nifty place, by the way, with scenery from flatland desert to highland with pines…

to Amarillo, Texas

"I can see for miles and miles..."

Winds were blowing at about 35 miles and hour with gusts to 60 miles an hour.  Not good when you are pulling a trailer…not to mention when a semi passes and adds and extra gust with no extra wiggle room in the lane.  I read my book and played DSi and pretended not to be concerned though The Bearded One handled it just fine.  Unfortunately, he is setting the pace for looking for a campground right now and when he mentioned that he was ready to stop we were in the middle of nowhere and the nearest campground was   70 miles away!

Sigh.  More wind.  More travel.

But we are at an RV park just west of Amarillo.  It is very nice but still windy.  Even with the jacks down on the trailer we are rocking a bit.  The Bearded One is watching an old Andy Griffith episode on cable and I am going to catch Glee on the internet when I am done talking to you.  The internet here is faster than usual so, with a few pauses, I can watch an episode.

I did not feel like cooking tonight but I did not want to put myself at the mercy of the campground restaurant so we had Spaghetti with Garlic and Olive Oil.  It hit the spot for both of us and was quick, easy and pretty nutritious (whole wheat pasta).

Tomorrow, on to Oklahoma (where the wind comes whistling down the plains…hope not!).
