Today, after weeding, we needed to do a bit of grocery shopping. Since it was Cinco de Mayo, the Bearded One suggested tacos for dinner. I figured we would have vegetarian tacos so we needed just a few ingredients.
We also had a short list of other needs on the wipe off board on the frig that we use to keep track of things to be purchased. Since we had the afternoon free to get provisions, we decided to hit Trader Joe’s.
For us, going to Trader Joe’s is a 30 minute trip one way so it is a commitment. We had a great time looking around though and picking things both on our list and not. We escaped with $75 worth and pleased but then needed to stop at the Kroger’s Fresh Fare across the street for a few items not found at TJ’s.
Kroger Fresh Fare is a somewhat upscale Kroger store with an expanded natural, international, wine and deli sections. Again, we enjoyed perusing the possibilities. It was good entertainment. We left with the things on our list and a few dolma to eat in the truck as we drove home. Nice.
What a pleasant way to spend the afternoon together! Oh, we had fresh corn on the cob for dinner. That’s it, just corn. It was crisp and sweet…couldn’t have been better. Tomorrow, a late Cinco de Mayo taco feast.
