Sigh. Two steps forward, one step back.

The laundry room reno should be done.  The laundry hamper should be empty.  Grins all around.

But, no…  The appliance repairman came this morning 15 minutes before his two hour window expired.  He checked out the washer and diagnosed that it needed a new seal (cracked) and a pump (yipes!).  After logging onto his internet thigamajig on his cell phone, he came back with a quote of $44o to repair the washer and make it usable for a year or two…since there were a couple of rust spots on the tub. Well, does that sound like a good deal?  Uh, no.  Luckily, I am a “preferred” customer with the repair company so there was no charge for the diagnosis.  We asked for suggestions on purchase of a washer (we do not want to put over $1000 in this thing) and he suggested Whirlpool Cabrio.  We bought that at Lowes and it will be delivered Thursday.  The reviews online are a bit alarming…people either LOVE it or HATE it.  Ick.  Gonna do some online work tonight to see if I should change to something else.  I really like the features mentioned when someone LOVES it.  Breaking is the problem with those who hate it.  Eesh.  Consumer Reports picked it as the best of the budget washers.  To and Fro, Pro and Con.  Ick.

Laundry hamper beginning to overflow...

We had Black Bean Burgers and Potato Salad for dinner.   Yum.  The Bearded One reflected on how good the meal was and how much more satisfying than meat.  Eesh.  He is no where ready to think vegetarian but is happy with one beef/pork meal a week and the rest is up to me.

I have yet to make this meal and will need to move it up the rung a little, every time you post it there are rave reviews.

We had a similar issue with our Maytag Neptune a few months back, more to repair than a new washer. Sad when that happens. I love my new one but couldn’t tell you for the life of me what it is. I think we got a sweet deal on it because it was last year’s model. I love it because it is a front loader so uses less water and soap, has a hand wash and a gentle cycle, and a 9 hour delay so I can set it and wash while I work but not have the clothes sit getting sour. I will try to remember to look at it and let you know what make it is.
