Quiet Returns…Bittersweet

The boys and their parents have returned home after a two week visit.  We had a great time.  It is bittersweet that they have gone.  Yes it is quiet and no Legos are on the floor to create an obstacle course BUT it is quiet and no boys to play with and hug.

I stowed all the boy’s toys and got out the basket that holds cat toys.  It was not long before there were cat toys spread all over the area previously habitated by Legos so Allie is trying to fill the void.  I think she liked playing with the boys but she never became friendly with Sadie, their dog.  There were a few loud skimishes, right to the end of the stay.

We did some fun things while the boys were here.  We went to the Boonshoft Children’s Museum in Dayton, playgrounds, the Air Force Museum, Carriage Hill Metropark (a historical farm museum), Cox Arboretum (to see the butterfly house) and when their dad was along, The Entertrainment Junction (a toy train themed park inside a building near Cincinnati).  All were wonderful although we were particularly taken with Entertrainment Junction, it has beautiful train displays and train themed play areas and rides.  The boys LOVED it.

Here are some pictures from their stay.

Jimmy and Evan letting you know that we are at Carriage Hill

Taking a break at Carriage Hill to eat some penny candy from the store. 11 cents worth!

Then, a few days later, Cox Arboretum

Another break, on the porch swing

Uh, no posing for this shot, they are on the move!

And after a night of “camping”  with Grandma and Grandpa (in the trailer in our backyard) on to Entertrainment Junction!

Evan and Jimmy on the Thomas ride

Another train ride for just the two boys.

There were a number of HUGE model train layouts...amazing!

And a hand cranked train ride. Here is Jimmy maneuvering through the ride.

We had a great time!  Being Grandparents is a joy.
