Putting the Garden to Bed and Preparing for Next Year

I spent several hours taking out this year’s tomato plants… picking ripe, semi-ripe, and green tomatoes;  putting the spent tomato plants in the trash so fungus does not spread into next year’s garden

I also picked a similar basket full of blushing tomatoes (those just beginning to turn that will ripen inside now) and a larger basket of green tomatoes.  I am not quite sure what I will do with them.  I just know I do not want them to go to waste.

I also picked peppers.  It may frost tonight so I wanted to get the bulk of the garden picked.

There is still Swiss Chard, Kale, Carrots, Broccoli,  a few tomatoes and peppers behind the house, Radishes, and Kohlrabi to harvest.  A bit of chill will not bother them.

We had roasted vegetables ( onions, peppers, eggplants and mushrooms) for dinner with Green Rice Pilaf  (made with onions and roasted poblano peppers.  It was great.

The cats are coexisting a bit better.  Allie still hisses at times but not every time.  VeeGee pretty much ignores the hisses but is still skittish toward us.  She wants the pitty pats but does not want to be grabbed and put in the carrier.
