It was my first time actually running the tiller.
We have not tilled the garden in five years. We have using the no-till method, merely mulching each year and planting without tilling but we found that the mulch layer was building up and needed to be tilled into the soil.
So, today, it was done. The Bearded One started the tiller (no small feat after five years!) and I ran it. Granted, we have a hefty Pollan tiller that did all the work. I just had to guide it.
The Bearded One cleared the garden of a truckload of garden clippings that were too big to compost easily.
This is great news. It is the longest and most strenuous gardening period he has spent in two years. His knee is better and his mind is better. Perhaps, another post on that in the future.
Anyway. The garden is on its way.
Other signs of spring in the yard…
And, in two days, Spring officially begins!
Such good news about Ted.
Knock on wood.
