The Universe seems to be sending me a message. Take only what you need.
I am a frugal (some might say, cheap) person. I live fairly simply but deny myself little that I truly want. But, I am getting messages…
First, there is the Live Below the Line Challenge. My older daughter, Kate, talked about it this morning in our phone call. Families in poverty feed their families on $1.99 per person per day. The challenge is to try that for five days.
Okay. I am a frugal person who cooks most things from scratch. Upon reflection, I could do that for a day, maybe two if I concentrated. (Remember, it includes food and drink)…but not long after that without real deprivation, (beyond deprivation…think about it.)
THEN, on Oprah, there was a show on taking only what you need from what is offered to you and letting the rest flow on to others. When you take more than you need, it becomes a burden not a blessing. Hmm.
I need to reflect on what I need, on what I give to others, on other ways I can give to others.
