There is Asparagus and there is ASPARAGUS!!!

It is Asparagus season.  We have missed it for the past couple of years.  Traveling to visit the Grandsons one year and to the Grand Canyon last year.  This year we are home for the entire season!!!  One thing I have learned though, is that frozen or canned asparagus is not nearly as good as fresh.  SO, we are eating asparagus as much as possible this month!

We generally, have a lot of the typical green asparagus.  But The Bearded One, at some point, planted some of the purple stuff.  It is HUGE.  The stalks are about 1 1/2 inches in diameter…but tender!  Yum!

Today’s asparagus was served with Eggplant Parmesan.  Okay, strange combination but still YUM.  This Baked Eggplant Parmesan recipe is outstanding and I am a connoiseur of Eggplant Parmesan.

And that is the good news.

The bad news is ANTS.  Durn it!  Every spring they come like the plague.  First one, then then…then they are everywhere!

Here they are on the seed starting rack...at least the masses are away from the kitchen.

I have ordered the best rated ant traps from Amazon.  Due to arrive the day after tomorrow.  Sigh.

  1. Holy cats! That be some asparagus! Once we move the back fence out, I’ll be able to plant some, looking forward to it.

Have the garden in, tomatoes of all kinds, okra, spaghetti butternut and zucchini squash, garlic, pickling and regular cucumbers. It’s been so freeking hot and dry here, not sure what will survive. Send rain!

What happened to April in Texas. Just glad you are not in the blazing area! Hope your garden survives.
