May and Burning the Woodstove

It is May 2nd and I have the wood stove burning.  Sigh.

Granted.  We rely on the wood stove as our major source of heat for the house even though we have two modern furnaces.  But we spend most of our time in the kitchen and ‘sitting room’ which are connected with the wood stove in the central area.  So, it is efficient to just heat that area to the cozy level.  We rarely turn on one furnace at all and only run the most efficient furnace at minimal temperature settings.

It has been in the 60s and 70s for the past days but we are returning to 50s during the day and 30s or 40s at night.  Sigh.  I guess it is to be expected since our “last frost date is May 15th” but still…

We had Leek and Potato Soup tonight for dinner.  A cool weather standby.

I had Art Class today and worked more on the In the Catbird Seat painting.  Here is the ‘progress’  tonight.

Last night...
