Starting Again

I start my new session of Colored Pencil Art Classes tomorrow.  I am looking forward to it for a number of reasons…seeing friends again and getting feedback on the portrait upon which I have been working.

I only have two weeks until the deadline for this painting and I will be traveling for a week of that time so I better get a move on.

I had darkened the background yesterday (the person for whom I am completing this portrait wanted a dark background).  Changing the tones in the background always influences the foreground colors so today I took time to intensify the face tones.

Yesterday...

Today.

I am not sure how much the changes show, but there is a difference.  I still need to add layers to the hair, the dog, the shirt and the arms.  I look forward to feedback from my instructor on the background particularly.  We will see…literally.

I reorganized and refreshed my pencil portfolio in preparation for class tomorrow.  It feels good.

My Android phone (have I told you how much I love it?) helped me replace various colors.  Sometimes the pencil had been sharpened so much that I could not read the name of the color…I could just see the UPC code.  The Android read the code and told me the specific name for the color.

Woohoo.  Better living through technology!
