Lots has happened since I last talked to you.
We packed the camper and readied the house for a lengthy absence…we will be travelling for over two months.
Our first major stop was our daughter and son-in-law’s home in New Jersey. We spent a week enjoying Christmas with them. We cooked, wrapped, played, ate, unwrapped, and played some more. It was a wonderful experience! Not only did we get to spend time with our exceptional grandsons, Evan and Jimmy, but our other daughter and her special one, Brian drove from Boston and spent twio days with all of us. It simply could not have been a more wonderful holiday.
We are now on the road South in an attempt to experience as little of winter as possible. After a brief stop to have a water leak in the camper repaired (shoutout to Trailerama in New Jersey!), we drove to Bar Harbor RV Park just north of Baltimore, Maryland. Because we could have walked from Philadelphia to Baltimore faster than traffic was moving on I95, we did not arrive until after dark…in the rain…with 3 inch puddles surrounding the campsite as we hooked up, we did not appreciate the beauty of the campground until morning. It is on a small peninsula in the Chesapeake Bay. This morning the water was beautiful and the sun was shining. Nice.
We drove just a bit over an hour to our campground in Washington DC (actually College Park, Maryland). It is a very nice park with all the amenities. We plan to go into Washington to the Smithsonian tomorrow. The Metro bus picks up right in our campground and will take us to the subway. Easy Peasy. Even for small town Ohio.
